"Due to the design nature of this box/filter, it is my suggestion that the box be removed whenever servicing this filter, and the filter re-installed while on the bench. It will make life easier, and reduce the risk of the filter falling out of place OR the lid applying a spreading force to the box causing it to distort. It is not at all uncommon for the filter to be improperly installed in this box allowing it to leak. I cannot over-emphasize the importance of taking great care when servicing. If you have one of the Amsoil "blue surround" filters, please check the integrity of the bond between the surround and the filter foam. I have seen a number of these separate which can allow unfiltered air to enter the turbo. This appears to be an early production problem that has been corrected in mid 2003 production units." - JK
